Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make layered walnut and chicken salad? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. You can make your own mayonnaise. You will find recipes for homemade mayonnaise after the last step. First boil the chicken fillet in salted water until tender. Then refrigerate.

Step 2

Step 2
Finely chop the walnuts or grind them in a blender. There is no need to grind the nuts for too long — they should not turn into too fine crumbs, but should be noticeable in structure.

Step 3

Step 3
Grate the cheese on a coarse or medium grater.

Step 4

Step 4
Cut the chilled chicken fillet into small cubes. The smaller the size of the meat pieces, the better the salad will be soaked.

Step 5

Step 5
Hard-boil the eggs, cool and peel. Read about how to do this in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe. Separate the yolks from the whites and grate them separately on a coarse grater. I prefer to grate the eggs directly into the salad bowl.

Step 6

Step 6
You can serve the layered salad in a salad bowl, but I prefer to form it in a cooking ring so that the layers can be seen. For this amount of ingredients you will need a ring measuring from 14 to 18 cm. Depending on the size of the ring, the salad will be higher or lower. Place the ring on a serving plate and place the shredded chicken fillet in the first layer. Level the layer and brush with mayonnaise. I usually make a mayonnaise mesh from a pastry bag.

Step 7

Step 7
Sprinkle (or grate) egg yolks on top. The size of the grater is not important, the main thing is that the yolks cover the entire surface of the salad.

Step 8

Step 8
Sprinkle half of the chopped walnuts over the yolks.

Step 9

Step 9
Also make a mesh of mayonnaise on top.

Step 10

Step 10
The next layer will be grated whites. They also need to be topped with mayonnaise.

Step 11

Step 11
Place grated cheese on the whites and pour mayonnaise over them.

Step 12

Step 12
The last layer will be the remaining walnuts. The finished salad should be allowed to soak in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours. You can dilute the layers with a green sweet and sour apple grated on a coarse grater (Semerinka variety, Granny Smith). The salad will be juicier with an apple.

Step 13

Step 13
Remove the cooking ring before serving. Garnish the salad with walnut halves and parsley. Bon appetit!
