Ham, Tomato, and Cheese Salad

If guests are on the doorstep, this simple and quick salad will help out. If you are tired of the usual Olivier, Mimosa, Herring under a fur coat and want something equally hearty, but quick to prepare, this salad is what you need. Hearty ham, juicy tomatoes, cheese and crispy croutons — and the result is truly delicious.

Ingredients (4 portions)

Basic:

Tomatoes 200 g
Hard cheese 150 g
Mayonnaise 2 tbsp
Ham 300 g
Bread (rye) 50 g

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for the salad. You can use ready-made store-bought croutons (depending on the additives, you can adjust the final taste of the salad) or make such croutons yourself.

To do this, cut the rye bread into thin slices. Already sliced bread is ideal. This will save you time. Cut each slice into equal pieces. Place the croutons on a baking sheet and place in an oven preheated to 180°C for 15-20 minutes. Stir the crackers periodically so that they dry evenly. If possible, turn on convection.

I left the croutons in the cooling oven for another 10 minutes until they turned a nice brown color. Cool the finished crackers. You can replace rye crackers with wheat bread crackers.

Also cut the ham into cubes. For the salad, you can use not only ham, but also any other boiled, smoked or baked pork: carbonate, neck, boiled pork.

Cut the cheese into small strips. You can also grate the cheese if desired.

Wash the tomatoes, dry and cut into cubes. For this salad, choose tomatoes that are fleshy and not very watery. If there is too much liquid in the tomatoes, it is better to cut out the middle of them and only then cut them into cubes.

Combine ham, cheese, tomatoes and croutons in a salad bowl.

Season the salad with mayonnaise and mix. If you do not plan to serve the salad immediately or in the next 10-15 minutes, then it is better not to add croutons and mayonnaise. The crackers will quickly become soggy and lose all their crispiness.
