Oven-Baked Soy Sauce Mackerel

Bulb onions 2 pc

How to bake mackerel in soy sauce in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. Take fresh mackerel, preferably not frozen. This fish will be more juicy when cooked. If the fish is frozen, then remove it from the freezer in advance and leave it at room temperature to thaw. To defrost, do not use hot water — it will take all the juices out of the fish.

Cut off the head and tail of each fish. Remove the entrails and rinse the mackerel well under running water. Then dry it with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Make shallow cuts on the surface of each fish. This will allow the soy sauce to penetrate the fish better.

Sprinkle the mackerel inside and out with lemon juice. Sprinkle with fish spices. Leave it to sit for a while. You donʼt need to add salt, since soy sauce itself is salty.

Peel the onion and rinse in running water. Cut the peeled onion into half rings or a little smaller.

Any heat-resistant form is suitable for baking. I will bake fish in a ceramic dish. Grease the bottom and sides of the mold with vegetable oil. Place almost all the chopped onion on the bottom of the pan.

Top with remaining onion and a few lemon slices. Cover the dish with fish with foil and place in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and leave the fish in the oven for another 20 minutes.
