Dragon Roll Delight

All guests will be absolutely delighted with this dish! Roll Dragon will diversify your holiday menu and become the main decoration of the table. It is based on rolls with smoked eel and unagi sauce, the head and tail are carved from cucumber. But you can make them from mashed avocados.

Ingredients (4 portions)

Basic:

Salt 1 tsp
Sugar 2 tsp
Water 1.5 cup
Round rice 1 cup
Avocado 1 pc
Nori 3 g
Rice vinegar 2 tbsp
Acne 100 g
Cottage cheese 200 g

To submit:

cucumbers 1 pc
Sesame 0.5 tsp
Red caviar 1 tsp
Sauce, pasta 2 tsp

How to make a Dragon roll? Prepare your food. Take rice special for sushi. If you don’t find this, then use a regular round one, not steamed. Read more about choosing rice in the article at the link at the end of the recipe. Instead of rice vinegar, you can use white wine vinegar. Or a regular cafeteria, 9%. Eel can be replaced with lightly salted or smoked red fish or any other fish to taste.

Place the rice in a saucepan and rinse it under the tap. Pour the washed cereal with clean cold water in a ratio of 1:1.5. Cover the saucepan with a lid and let it cook. After boiling, reduce the heat to minimum. Cook the rice for 10-13 minutes until the water has completely boiled away. Then remove the saucepan from the stove and leave to stand with the lid closed for another 10 minutes — during this time the remaining water will be completely absorbed. Pour vinegar into the rice, add sugar and salt, stir.

When the rice has cooled enough to handle, start rolling the rolls. Place half a sheet of nori on the bamboo mat, shiny side down. Using hands dipped in cold water, spread the rice into a thin layer. On one edge the rice should protrude by 1.5 cm, on the other leave a free strip of nori, also about 1.5 cm wide. Before each serving of rice, wet your hands, then it will not stick.

Turn the nori and rice over with the seaweed side up. Squeeze a sausage of curd cheese into the center and place strips of eel on it.

Using a bamboo mat, carefully roll the layer, giving it a rectangular shape. Slam the sides of the roll with a spatula or knife.

Cut the avocado and remove the pit. Cut off the skin. Cut the pulp into thin slices; it will be more convenient to do this with a vegetable peeler.

Spread the top and sides of the roll with a small amount of cream cheese. Place avocado strips overlapping on top of the roll. Trim off any protruding ends.

Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into 8 pieces.

Cut out a dragonʼs face from a cucumber. Lay out the rolls. Pour unagi sauce over them and garnish with red caviar and sprinkle with black sesame seeds. Serve with wasabi and ginger. Bon appetit!
