Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake rice in sour cream in the oven? To begin, prepare all the ingredients according to the list. You can take short-grain or long-grain rice, but preferably steamed so that it retains its shape during cooking. Drain liquid from canned corn and dry the grains.

Step 2

Step 2
Sort the rice and rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear. Next, cook the rice according to the instructions on the package. You can cook until fully cooked or until half cooked, when the rice has time to swell slightly, but is still hard inside. It is desirable that during cooking the rice retains its crumbly texture and does not become overcooked.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the bell pepper from seeds and stems and cut into small cubes.

Step 4

Step 4
Cut the onion into small cubes.

Step 5

Step 5
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.

Step 6

Step 6
Finely chop the garlic with a knife.

Step 7

Step 7
Wash the greens, dry and finely chop. For this dish, you can use more aromatic cilantro or parsley, which is more neutral in taste and aroma.

Step 8

Step 8
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the onion and fry, stirring, until translucent. Next, you can continue to fry the onion along with the bell pepper or remove it from the pan, like I did.

Step 9

Step 9
Place bell pepper and chopped garlic in a frying pan. Fry, stirring, for about 5-7 minutes until the peppers are soft.

Step 10

Step 10
Combine rice and fried vegetables in a bowl. Add canned corn, grated cheese, sour cream and herbs.

Step 11

Step 11
Salt, pepper and mix everything. *If you do not want to pre-boil the rice, but immediately bake it in the oven raw, the resulting mass should be diluted with about 1-1.5 glasses of water or broth so that the rice has enough moisture to absorb.

Step 12

Step 12
Transfer the rice mixture to a greased baking dish. It is advisable that the mass does not reach the very edges of the mold, but there is room left if the mass increases in volume (if you cook from semi-cooked or raw rice). Place the rice with vegetables in an oven preheated to 180°C for 25-30 minutes (longer if made from raw rice) until the rice is cooked. The exact time depends on your oven. * It is better to bake raw rice under foil so that the moisture does not evaporate so quickly

Step 13

Step 13
Chop the green onion feathers into rings. Sprinkle the finished rice with chopped onions and serve. Bon appetit!
