Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake potatoes in the oven with cheese and mayonnaise? Prepare all the necessary ingredients.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the potatoes well with a brush under running water. Place the tubers in a saucepan and cover with water. Place over high heat and add salt to the water after boiling. Reduce heat to medium and cook until half cooked, about 10 minutes. You can also peel the potatoes first, if desired.

Step 3

Step 3
While the potatoes are cooking, make the sauce. Peel the garlic and pass through a press. Mix with mayonnaise. Grate the cheese on a fine or coarse grater, it makes no difference.

Step 4

Step 4
Peel the onion and cut into thin rings or half rings. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the onion in it until golden brown. You need to stir the onions periodically so that they don’t burn.

Step 5

Step 5
Drain the water from the pan and cool the potatoes slightly. If you used large or medium-sized potatoes, cut each tuber in half. If you used small potatoes, you can then use them whole.

Step 6

Step 6
Add the garlic and mayonnaise sauce to the potatoes and stir gently using a large spoon.

Step 7

Step 7
Place potatoes and mayonnaise in the first layer in a baking dish.

Step 8

Step 8
Then add the fried onions.

Step 9

Step 9
And sprinkle cheese evenly on top.

Step 10

Step 10
Repeat all layers in the same order again. Place in the oven at 180 degrees for 30 minutes (time and temperature may vary, rely on the capabilities of your oven). Alternatively, you can cover the pan with potatoes with foil, bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and leave until the cheese is browned. Depending on the type of potato, the baking time may increase or, conversely, decrease. You can check the readiness of the potatoes using a toothpick.

Step 11

Step 11
Sprinkle the finished potatoes with onions and cheese on top with your favorite herbs and ground pepper (optional). Determine the baking intensity of the cheese crust according to your taste. Bon appetit!
