Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to grill mackerel? Prepare your food. If you use frozen mackerel, defrost it first. Remove the fish from the freezer and leave at room temperature until completely defrosted. Clean the thawed mackerel from the insides, remove the fins, cut off the head and tail. Be sure to remove the black film from the belly, it is very bitter.

Step 2

Step 2
Rinse the cleaned fish well in running water inside and out and dry thoroughly with a paper towel to remove excess water.

Step 3

Step 3
Remove the backbone from the mackerel and cut it lengthwise into two halves.

Step 4

Step 4
Prepare the marinade. How to make a marinade? To prepare it, take a separate bowl and pour soy sauce and vegetable oil into it. Squeeze a little juice from the lemon into the marinade.

Step 5

Step 5
Then add a little salt and fish spice to taste. I use ready-made fish kits as a spice. When adding salt, keep in mind that soy sauce itself is quite salty. Donʼt oversalt. Mix all the contents of the bowl.

Step 6

Step 6
Dip the mackerel in the marinade so that it covers it evenly on all sides. Leave the fish in the bowl for one hour to marinate slightly.

Step 7

Step 7
To cook the fish, heat the electric grill. Lubricate it thoroughly with vegetable oil. This is convenient to do with a brush. Remove the fish from the marinade and pat dry slightly with a paper towel. This is necessary in order to remove excess marinade. When placing fish on the grill, hot splashes may occur. Place the fish on the grill, skin side up, and cover with a lid. Cook the fish for 5-7 minutes.

Step 8

Step 8
Mackerel cooks very quickly. All excess fat will drain into a special tray under the grill.

Step 9

Step 9
Transfer the finished fish to a plate and serve. You can complement the fish with fresh boiled potatoes and fresh vegetables. Bon appetit!
