Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make a casserole of cutlets with potato wedges and cheese? Prepare your food. Place the white bread in a bowl and pour in two tablespoons of milk (preferably at room temperature). You can use ready-made minced meat, but I prefer to make it myself.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the pork and beef and cut into small pieces. Grind the meat in a meat grinder fitted with a fine mesh rack. I always mince the meat twice to make the finished dish more juicy and fluffy. And I advise you to do the same.

Step 3

Step 3
Salt the finished minced meat, add dried herbs and finely chopped onions. With it, the cutlets will become twice as tasty and much juicier. Mix the minced meat thoroughly, cover and give it time to rest a little.

Step 4

Step 4
Meanwhile, prepare the potatoes. Wash and peel the potato tubers. It is better to choose young and not very large tubers. Using a sharp knife, cut the potatoes into rings no more than 4 millimeters thick. The thinner the potatoes are cut, the faster they will cook. But you don’t need to grind it completely, otherwise it will dry out and may warm up. Grease a baking dish with sunflower oil and lay out 2/3 of the potatoes, covering the bottom and sides of the pan with them.

Step 5

Step 5
Form small, neat cutlets from the minced meat and place them in the mold on top of the potatoes, keeping a distance of about one centimeter between the cutlets.

Step 6

Step 6
Distribute the remaining potatoes between the cutlets. Potato slices should be placed on their edges. This will make the potatoes look more beautiful in the finished dish.

Step 7

Step 7
Add milk to the pan so that it gets on the cutlets themselves too. Lightly salt the top potato slices.

Step 8

Step 8
Sprinkle the top of the dish generously with grated cheese. Bake cutlets with potatoes in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 40 minutes. The cutlets should be completely cooked, and the cheese should be melted and browned. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven.
