Creamy and Crunchy Kadaif Delight

A delicious sweet with a rich creamy taste in an oriental style! Incredibly tasty, aromatic, but alas, very high in calories. But the hands just keep reaching out... oh, that’s where the temptation is! A small amount of ingredients makes an extremely tasty treat. Filo dough, when baked in the oven, acquires a pleasant crunch and golden brown hue. Mozzarella, despite the presence of salt in it, does not make the product salty. She gives salt to the neutral dough and thereby decorates the taste of the finished Kadaif, giving it a pleasant creamy flavor and aroma. In a word: delicious! Try it!

Ingredients (18 portions)

Basic:

Sugar 1 cup
Mozzarella 200 g
Lemon juice (5 drops) to taste
Butter 200 g
Water (200 gram) 1 cup
Filo dough 400 g

We prepare the products. Thaw the phyllo dough. My lemon.

Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Let it cool a little.

Take the already thawed phyllo dough and remove the plastic from it. We do not unroll (!!!) the roll, which consists of the thinnest, almost like tissue paper, layers of dough. And right on the roll, crosswise, we cut the phyllo into as narrow strips as possible, similar to threads. Here you will need to choose a comfortable sharp knife and make some effort, because the dough, rolled into a tight roll, can hardly be called pliable. But itʼs worth it. We get long, thin noodles.

Pour melted butter over the resulting noodles and mix so that the entire dough is saturated with it.

Grease the mold with oil. Place half of the dough into it, level it, and place the mozzarella cut into large pieces on top.

Cover the cheese with the remaining dough and press down lightly. Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 40-45 minutes until a beautiful, rosy color.

While the kadaif is baking, prepare the syrup. Bring sugar, water and lemon juice to a boil.

Boil for 2-5 minutes. Then cool the syrup completely.

We take the finished Kadaif out of the oven and pour cold syrup over it while still hot. Leave to soak for 20 minutes. All the syrup was absorbed by me. Remove the Kadaif from the mold onto a plate and cut into pieces. Prepare coffee or tea and enjoy!
