Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make a Whoopie Pie cake? Prepare all the necessary products according to the list. Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance and leave it at room temperature. It should become soft and pliable.

Step 2

Step 2
Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and baking powder through a sieve. Mix the mixture.

Step 3

Step 3
Place the softened butter in a deep container. Add sugar and a pinch of salt. Beat everything with a mixer.

Step 4

Step 4
Beat in one egg at a time, continuing to beat the mixture with the mixer.

Step 5

Step 5
Gradually add milk and continue whisking.

Step 6

Step 6
Start pouring the flour and cocoa into the butter mixture in portions. Stir with a spatula or spoon until smooth. Keep in mind that you may need more or less flour, so focus on the consistency of the dough.

Step 7

Step 7
Pour in hot water and stir again until smooth.

Step 8

Step 8
This is what the finished dough looks like.

Step 9

Step 9
To decorate the cake we will need several Whoopie Pie cakes. To do this, place a small amount of dough into a cooking bag. Make 6 round pieces with a diameter of 4-5 cm. Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven and bake at 180-200 degrees for about 10 minutes.

Step 10

Step 10
Check the doneness of the baked goods with a wooden toothpick.

Step 11

Step 11
Divide the rest of the dough into three equal parts. Cover the bottom of the mold (22 cm) with parchment paper. Lay out one part of the dough, smooth it out and put it in a hot oven. Bake for about 20 minutes at 180 degrees. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven.

Step 12

Step 12
Check the readiness of the cake with a wooden skewer. Bake the remaining two pieces of dough in the same way. Cool the cakes completely, cutting off the tops if necessary to ensure an even surface. Be careful, the cakes are very delicate and can crumble if you are not careful.

Step 13

Step 13
Prepare all the products needed for the cream.

Step 14

Step 14
Pour the chilled cream into a deep container, add sugar (add 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar if desired) and beat until peaks appear (until whisk marks remain on the surface of the whipped cream).

Step 15

Step 15
Add sour cream and mix everything with a silicone spatula or spoon.

Step 16

Step 16
Make an impregnation from water and sugar. Place the first cake on a flat surface and soak in sweet syrup. Place the cream in a piping bag with a nozzle. Apply some of the cream in a circle, as in the photo.

Step 17

Step 17
Next, spread the cream over the surface of the cake in the form of a spiral.

Step 18

Step 18
Place the second cake layer on top, soak it in syrup and brush it with cream in the same way. Do the same with the last cake layer. Level the cream on the surface. Place the cake in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (overnight is possible).

Step 19

Step 19
When assembling the cake, you can use a cooking bag without an attachment, the result will be no less impressive. The top cake may not be greased with cream, but immediately filled with chocolate glaze.

Step 20

Step 20
Make Whoopie Pie cakes by combining two (previously baked) circles with cream. Place in the refrigerator.

Step 21

Step 21
Prepare the frosting for the cake. To do this, melt the chocolate slices and butter in a water bath. Stir until smooth.

Step 22

Step 22
Pour in hot cream (you can heat it in the microwave). Remove from heat and stir well to form a glaze.

Step 23

Step 23
Cool the glaze to room temperature, spread onto the top of the cake and smooth out.

Step 24

Step 24
Cut the Whoopie Pies into two pieces in any order.

Step 25

Step 25
Decorate the cake with the brownie halves before the frosting sets.

Step 26

Step 26
If desired, decorate with chocolate chips and other sweets.

Step 27

Step 27
Ready! You can serve!
