Ingredients (6 portions)

Basic:

Sugar 1 cup
Butter 100 g
Milk 2 cup
Corn starch 3 tbsp
Eggs 1 pc
Puff pastry 500 g

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
Prepare the custard. Beat the egg into the pan, add sugar and cornstarch.

Step 2

Step 2
Whisk everything thoroughly.

Step 3

Step 3
Add hot milk and stir.

Step 4

Step 4
Cook the cream over moderate heat with continuous stirring until the first loaves.

Step 5

Step 5
Add butter to the hot cream and mix everything well until the butter dissolves. You can pre-beat the softened butter with a mixer to a white fluffy mass and add it to the cooled cream. Choose the option you like. Leave the cream to cool until it thickens to the desired consistency.

Step 6

Step 6
Defrost the dough until it is ready to work with. Place a sheet of dough on parchment paper sprinkled with flour. The dough can be thinner or thicker. For example, in a package weighing 1 kilogram the dough is thick, but in a package weighing 500 grams the dough will be thinner. Keep this in mind when choosing the dough, because the height of the cakes will depend on its thickness.

Step 7

Step 7
We cut the layer into 8 equal rectangles: cut lengthwise into four parts and crosswise into two.

Step 8

Step 8
Transfer the parchment to a baking sheet.

Step 9

Step 9
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and bake the cakes in it for 15-20 minutes. They should rise and brown.

Step 10

Step 10
Now we cut each piece crosswise into 2 parts: we get a bottom and a top.

Step 11

Step 11
Grease the bottoms with custard. Add more cream so that the top sticks well.

Step 12

Step 12
Cover the bottoms with the other halves.

Step 13

Step 13
Remove the crispy layer from the top — it will be the topping. Spread the top with cream and sprinkle with crumbs. You can also make crumbs from one cake. We do this with all preparations. Give the finished cakes time to soak.
