Chocolate 100 g

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make chocolate covered oranges? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Take two large oranges, dark chocolate, which, if desired, can be replaced with milk chocolate.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the oranges well under running water, as they will cook with the peel on. Cut them into circles, about 5 mm thick. If you cut oranges thinner, the pulp will fall apart, and if you cut them thicker, the peel will remain bitter.

Step 3

Step 3
Pour water into a saucepan and place on fire. Take high-quality filtered water. Place orange slices in boiling water for 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Step 4
Place the oranges in a colander and let the water drain. It is during cooking that all the bitterness from the orange peel disappears.

Step 5

Step 5
Pour about 600 ml of water into a suitable saucepan and add sugar (or a sweetener that is not afraid of heat treatment), put on fire and wait until all the sugar has dissolved. Transfer the fruit slices to the saucepan with the syrup. Cook over very low heat for one hour. Check periodically, if the water boils away, add a little more. You need to cook until the peel of the oranges becomes almost transparent, amber.

Step 6

Step 6
Remove the oranges from the syrup with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack set on a baking sheet. Place in an oven preheated to 130 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Then let the oranges cool.

Step 7

Step 7
These are the sunny slices we got. These slices can be used to decorate cakes or desserts, or simply eat with tea.

Step 8

Step 8
Melt the chocolate in a steam bath or microwave. If you get poor quality chocolate and lumps form, add a little milk and butter and stir well.

Step 9

Step 9
Carefully dip the orange slices halfway into the chocolate and place them on baking paper or a flat plate greased with butter to harden. Do not put the dish in the refrigerator; wait until the chocolate hardens. I decorated the finished chocolate-covered orange slices a little by sprinkling with colorful coconut flakes.
