Baked French-Style Chicken and Potatoes

French-style potatoes will decorate even a holiday table in layers! I cook this dish quite often. In addition to chicken fillet, meat from chicken thighs without skin and bones works well here. If desired, you can add fresh tomato slices. French-style potatoes with chicken in the oven in layers is simple and budget-friendly.

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make French-style potatoes in the oven? First, prepare all the ingredients.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water with a brush, peel and cut into thin slices (about 0.3-0.5 cm).

Step 3

Step 3
Also peel the onions and cut into slices. To avoid irritation to the eyes, wash your knife and onion before cutting onions.

Step 4

Step 4
Grate the cheese on a coarse or medium grater, as desired.

Step 5

Step 5
Cut the chicken fillet into long slices and lightly pound.

Step 6

Step 6
Place onion rings in the bottom of a greased baking dish.

Step 7

Step 7
Place half of the potato slices on it. Brush the potatoes with the remaining vegetable oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Step 8

Step 8
Place chicken fillet pieces tightly on top.

Step 9

Step 9
Salt and pepper to your taste and brush with mayonnaise. I filled a piping bag with mayonnaise and piped out the "pattern".

Step 10

Step 10
Place the remaining potato slices on the chicken coated with mayonnaise. If desired, you can also top the potatoes with mayonnaise, but I didn’t — in my opinion, it would already be quite fatty.

Step 11

Step 11
Sprinkle potatoes with grated cheese. Place the pan in an oven preheated to 180°C for 40 minutes. You may have to adjust the cooking time and temperature in the oven up or down, since any technique has its own characteristics. Take this into account! I also advise you to immediately cover the pan with foil so that everything inside is well baked and the cheese does not burn. After 30-40 minutes, remove the foil and cook until the cheese gets a golden brown crust.
