Hearty Pork and Potato Stew

A great family lunch, simple, filling and very tasty. Pork with potatoes in a cauldron on the stove is an ideal option for soft and juicy stewed meat in a sauce with vegetables. Cookware with thick walls creates the best conditions for long-term cooking without burning. Herbs and spices diversify the aroma and taste.

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to stew pork with potatoes in a cauldron on the stove? Prepare all the products listed in the recipe. I used pork neck, but you can use any part of the carcass and the dish will still be delicious. If you have frozen meat, you need to remove it from the freezer and defrost it at room temperature. Use small or medium-sized potatoes if possible.

Step 2

Step 2
So, rinse the meat under running water and dry with paper napkins. Cut the pork into small pieces. Peel the onions and carrots. Chop the onion into large cubes and the carrots into slices or thick slices.

Step 3

Step 3
Heat odorless vegetable oil in a cauldron. Send the meat to fry. Over high heat, stirring constantly, cook until golden brown. This will take you from 7 to 10 minutes.

Step 4

Step 4
Add carrots and onions to the pork.

Step 5

Step 5
Stirring, cook for about 5-10 minutes more.

Step 6

Step 6
If you have large potatoes, cut the tubers in half or into quarters. Rinse the tomatoes and cut into large pieces. If desired, peel the tomatoes first. I donʼt usually do this. Chop the bell pepper into cubes. Peel the garlic and cut into thin slices or pass through a press. Place potatoes, tomatoes and garlic in a cauldron. Add bay leaf.

Step 7

Step 7
Salt everything to taste, add adjika and other favorite spices. Fill everything with water, about one glass will be enough (instead of water, you can use tomato juice or tomato paste to taste).

Step 8

Step 8
Mix everything well and bring to a boil over high heat.

Step 9

Step 9
Reduce the flame to minimum and simmer the potatoes and meat under the lid for about 30-40 minutes.

Step 10

Step 10
Next, open the lid, turn up the heat under the cauldron a little more and leave for another 10 minutes. At the end of cooking, sprinkle with chopped herbs.

Step 11

Step 11
Remove the cauldron from the stove, cover with a lid and let sit for at least 10 minutes.

Step 12

Step 12
Ready! Serve hot with fresh vegetables and salads.
