Ingredients (3 portions)

Basic:

Garlic 1 clove
Salt 2 tsp
Wheat flour 3 tbsp
Butter 40 g
Milk 70 ml
Potato 3 pc
Vegetable oil 100 ml
Halibut 400 g

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
Prepare all the necessary products. We will prepare a full meal of mashed potatoes and fried fish. The fish can be absolutely any: I have halibut. It can be a fish fillet or a fish steak; it is only desirable that the fish is not very bony.

Step 2

Step 2
Mix flour with a teaspoon of salt.

Step 3

Step 3
Wash the fish, cut into small pieces if necessary, roll in the flour mixture on all sides.

Step 4

Step 4
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan (preferably with a non-stick coating). The oil can be anything: sunflower or olive, but to prevent it from burning in the pan, I recommend using refined vegetable oil for frying. Add the breaded fish and fry over low heat on one side for about 7-8 minutes, until golden and crispy.

Step 5

Step 5
Then carefully turn the fish over and fry until cooked through, about 7-8 minutes more. If necessary, repeat the frying procedure on both sides again.

Step 6

Step 6
While the fish is frying, prepare the mashed potatoes. Wash and peel the potatoes. Try to cut the skin thinly; it is best to use a vegetable peeler for this purpose.

Step 7

Step 7
Roughly chop the peeled potatoes and place them in a saucepan where you will prepare the puree.

Step 8

Step 8
Rinse the potatoes and fill with clean, filtered water.

Step 9

Step 9
Add salt.

Step 10

Step 10
And a peeled clove of garlic. It will give the finished dish a unique aroma. Bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer for 25 minutes, covered. Then drain the water.

Step 11

Step 11
Pour warm milk into the prepared potatoes. The milk must be warm. If it is cold, the puree will turn gray.

Step 12

Step 12
Add oil.

Step 13

Step 13
Mash with a masher or a special attachment. I do not recommend beating the puree with a mixer, unless the mixer specifically has an attachment for puree. The regular whisk attachment is by no means suitable for making purees.

Step 14

Step 14
Serve mashed potatoes with fried fish. Bon appetit!
