Red Lentil Dal: A Flavorful Vegetarian Delight

Indian cuisine soup will delight vegetarians and food lovers. Dal is a thick soup of traditional Indian cuisine, made from legumes and is very loved by vegetarians all over the world. Dal with red lentils is called Mansoordal. Thanks to the well-cooked red lentils, it’s very quick to prepare. And the presence of a large amount of vegetables and spices makes it tasty, nutritious and aromatic. The presence of hot pepper is not at all a prerequisite. If you don’t like the spicy taste of the dish, you can omit it.

Ingredients (5 portions)

Basic:

Garlic 3 clove
Tomatoes 3 pc
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper to taste
Water 1.5 l
Carrot 3 pc
Bulb onions 1 pc
Vegetable oil 20 ml
Hot pepper 1 pc
Turmeric (with a slide) 1 tsp
Parsley root 1 pc
Curry 0.5 tsp
Green cilantro to taste
Red lentils 1 cup

Wash the lentils and soak overnight

Pour the lentils into a thick-walled cast-iron pan, add water and cook.

Onions, parsley and carrots, peel and chop.

Pour oil into a frying pan, heat it and add spices and chopped garlic into the hot oil. Heat the spices for no more than 3-5 minutes so that they release their aromas to the oil.

Add onion and lightly fry it.

Add carrots and parsley to the onions. Simmer until almost done.

Meanwhile, peel the tomatoes and chop finely.

Remove the seeds from the pepper, you can chop it and add it to the fry.

When the lentils are ready, I taste them and add frying. Cook for another 5 minutes.

Add cilantro to the finished soup. I had it fresh frozen. But if there is a fresh option, it will be better. Turn off the heat and let the dish sit for a while (it takes me 20-30 minutes).
