Basic:

Onion 1 pc
Garlic (optional) 1 clove
Tomatoes (optional) 1 pc
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper to taste

Vegetable oil 4 tbsp
Greenery to taste
Sausages 4 pc
Cabbage 800 g
Ketchup (or tomato paste) 2 tbsp

How to make solyanka from cabbage with sausages? Prepare all the necessary products. Which sausages are best? Any sausage you like is suitable for this recipe. I used chicken ones. If you have seasonal tomatoes on hand, include them in the ingredient list. With them, the hodgepodge will turn out juicier and more tender.

Rinse the cabbage under running water. Remove outer sheets. They often have damage and flaws. Cut the cabbage into medium-thick strips. The cutting method can be any. If you cut the head of cabbage into small cubes, the cooking time will change.

Heat a small amount of odorless vegetable oil (2-3 tbsp) in a frying pan and fry the cabbage for a minute or two. Add a pinch of salt, stir and cook over low heat with the lid closed for 15-20 minutes.

At this time, peel the onions and carrots, rinse and dry with paper towels. Finely chop the onion and grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

In another frying pan, fry the onions and carrots in vegetable oil. Cook until the vegetables turn golden.

Add ketchup or tomato paste, stir and let simmer for a few seconds. If you are using tomato and garlic, add them to the pan at this stage. Peel the garlic. Rinse the tomato and garlic clove in clean water, chop and fry. I used one medium sized tomato and 4-5 yellow cherry tomatoes. Leave the pan with tomatoes on low heat for 5-7 minutes to allow the vegetables to simmer.

Remove the casing from the sausages. Cut into medium-thick slices.

Place the sausages and fried vegetables in a frying pan with cabbage. Mix everything very well, cover with a lid and leave to simmer for 10 to 20 minutes (until all components are cooked).

Taste the prepared solyanka for salt. Add salt if necessary.

Sprinkle the finished dish with fresh, finely chopped herbs and offer each person some ground black pepper on a plate.
