Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make hake fillet baked in the oven? First, prepare the ingredients you need according to the list. You can take fresh or frozen fish. Frozen fish must first be defrosted by transferring it from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Read about all the intricacies of proper defrosting in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe. Instead of whole fish, you can use boneless, skin-on fillets or fillet briquettes.

Step 2

Step 2
Cut the hake carcasses into fillets. How to properly fillet a whole fish? Remove the tail, head and fins. Cut along the ridge of the carcass to the spine. Using a sharp knife, cut the meat from the spinal bone. Turn the carcass over and cut off the fillet on the other side. Clean the inside, removing the black film, as it is bitter and will spoil the taste. Rinse and be sure to dry thoroughly.

Step 3

Step 3
Sprinkle the resulting fillets with salt, pepper and fish spices. Leave for 10 minutes. Turn the oven on 180 degrees.

Step 4

Step 4
Wash the tomatoes, dry and cut into slices. Choose tomatoes that are juicy but firm. Soft fruits do not hold their shape well; during cutting and cooking, they will spread into a shapeless mass and spoil the appearance of the dish.

Step 5

Step 5
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Any cheese is suitable for this dish — hard, semi-hard, soft, such as mozzarella. The main thing is that it is tasty, of high quality, without milk fat substitutes and melts well.

Step 6

Step 6
Place half of the fish fillet in a single layer in a greased baking dish. Brush the fish with some of the sour cream. Sprinkle with oregano.

Step 7

Step 7
Spread half the tomatoes on top of the fish. Sprinkle with half the grated cheese. Repeat layers. For information on different baking pans, see the article at the end of this recipe under the steps.

Step 8

Step 8
Cover the pan with foil and place in an oven preheated to 180℃ for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake the fish for about 10 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven. You can learn about the operating features of ovens by reading a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.

Step 9

Step 9
Place the baked hake with tomatoes and cheese on a plate, garnish with fresh herbs and serve. Bon appetit!
