Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
Letʼs prepare the ingredients for making corn milk porridge. There are very few of them, and they are simple and affordable. You can change the amount of ingredients and their proportions to suit your taste. Corn grits need to be washed, although many housewives skip this step, citing the fact that they are very finely crushed, prepared for cooking, and do not need to be washed. Still, it is better to do this, since dust and foreign microparticles are found in it.

Step 2

Step 2
Place the corn grits in a saucepan with a thick bottom so that the porridge does not stick to the bottom of the pan. Fill it with clean filtered water. There should be three times more water than corn grits, since corn grits strongly absorbs moisture and boils significantly. Put the corn porridge on the fire, bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly with a spoon so that no lumps form. Remove the foam from the surface with a spoon. After boiling, the porridge will begin to thicken.

Step 3

Step 3
Add sugar, salt. Pour in half the milk and stir. Let the porridge boil again.

Step 4

Step 4
When the porridge boils again, pour in the remaining milk and stir. Let the porridge boil. Turn off the fire. Mix the porridge. It should be liquid in consistency. Place a piece of butter in the pan with the corn porridge. Cover the pan with a lid and leave the porridge to brew on the stove under the lid for about 20 minutes. During this time, the porridge will thicken significantly.

Step 5

Step 5
You can serve corn porridge at the table with butter, berries, dried fruits or jam. Corn porridge is tasty when it’s just cooked; after heating, the taste is no longer the same, so it’s better to cook it for one meal. Bon appetit!
