How to bake chicken drumsticks in soy sauce in the oven? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Use classic soy sauce, not teriyaki, since teriyaki already contains sugar. But for us, sugar and honey are fundamentally important — they caramelize during baking and the legs will turn out with a crispy crust.

Wash the chicken drumsticks well and dry. Check the legs for unplucked feathers and if there are any, remove them.

How to make a honey-soy marinade for chicken? In a bowl, mix soy sauce, liquid honey, balsamic vinegar, cane sugar and spices. Mix everything. If the honey is candied, first melt it on the stove or in the microwave. You can replace dry garlic with 2-3 cloves of fresh garlic, but keep in mind that pieces of garlic may burn in the oven. Therefore, when roasting meat to a crisp, I usually replace fresh garlic with dry garlic.

Place the chicken drumsticks in the bowl with the marinade and mix well so that all the legs are coated with the marinade. Let the chicken marinate for 1 hour at room temperature, stirring occasionally.

Transfer the legs to a baking dish. If you want to go the simple route, then pour all or part of the marinade from the legs into the mold and bake in an oven preheated to 200°C for about 35-40 minutes. Periodically brush them with soy sauce from the bottom of the pan. But you can do it differently: brush the legs with marinade and put in the oven for 35-40 minutes and bake at 190-200°C. Pour the marinade remaining after the legs into a saucepan and simmer over medium heat until it becomes a thick sauce.

The sauce should leave marks on the spoon and the sides of the saucepan. It will boil down by about 2-3 times. This will take about 15-20 minutes while the chicken is in the oven.

After 25-30 minutes of baking, brush the legs with thick soy sauce and return to the oven. Bake for about 10 minutes or longer until golden brown and crispy. You can turn on the “top+bottom+convection” mode.
