Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake whole flounder in foil in the oven? Simply and easily! Prepare all the products indicated in the recipe. If you have frozen flounder, you should first defrost it. How to do this correctly, read the article at the end of the recipe. For two servings, I took two medium-sized fish. Peel the onion. Rinse tomatoes, onions and lemon. Turn on the oven to 180-200 degrees in advance.

Step 2

Step 2
Gut the flounder and cut off the fins and tail. It is convenient to do this with scissors. If desired, cut off the heads of the flounder. I usually don’t do this and bake the fish whole, it seems to me that the finished dish looks more appetizing. Wash the carcasses and dry them with paper napkins. Season the fish with salt, pepper and your favorite seasonings on both sides. Using massaging movements, distribute the spices evenly throughout the fish.

Step 3

Step 3
Place half an onion, cut into thin half rings, on a sheet of foil. I used red salad onions, but you can use regular onions. Read about all the nuances of using foil in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.

Step 4

Step 4
Place the flounder carcass, white side down, on top of the onion. Sprinkle with lemon juice.

Step 5

Step 5
Cut the tomatoes into thin slices and place on top of the flounder as in the photo. On average, you will need one tomato per serving of fish.

Step 6

Step 6
Cover the top of the flounder with foil, forming an envelope. Seal the edges of the foil.

Step 7

Step 7
Place the envelope in a baking dish.

Step 8

Step 8
Place in a preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes at 180-200 degrees. Time and temperature depend on your oven model and may vary. You can learn about the operating features of ovens by reading a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.

Step 9

Step 9
Next, carefully open the envelopes (be careful not to burn yourself) and bake in this way for another 15-20 minutes (until the flounder is browned).

Step 10

Step 10
Ready! Very tasty hot or cold!
