Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to stew meat in tomato sauce? Prepare all products according to the list. You can take meat from any part of the carcass of your choice. But itʼs better if itʼs fillet. Anything will do: beef, pork, lamb, chicken. I take beef. Trim all excess from the meat, rinse well and dry with paper towels.

Step 2

Step 2
Soak the beans overnight — this is very important, and this is probably the most difficult thing — not to forget in the evening))) If you use canned or green beans (which is acceptable), skip this step. The water should completely cover the beans and be 3-4 fingers higher. I used red beans, but white and spotted beans will work here too.

Step 3

Step 3
Overnight my beans approximately doubled in size.

Step 4

Step 4
Drain off the water in which the beans were soaked. Place the beans in a colander to drain excess liquid.

Step 5

Step 5
Cut the meat into pieces of arbitrary sizes, but not too large and not too small.

Step 6

Step 6
Peel the onions, wash them, dry them and chop them finely. Wet the knife with cold water so as not to cry while slicing))

Step 7

Step 7
Grate the peeled carrots on a medium or coarse grater.

Step 8

Step 8
Fry the meat in a heated frying pan with the addition of vegetable oil. The temperature of the frying pan must be very high, this is important so that the meat is covered with a crust and all the juice remains inside. For such dishes, I always take an old cast-iron frying pan or cauldron — this has its own charm.

Step 9

Step 9
Fry the meat until golden brown, stirring occasionally.

Step 10

Step 10
Then add the onions and carrots. Reduce heat to medium.

Step 11

Step 11
Stir and fry for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are soft, stirring occasionally.

Step 12

Step 12
Add soaked beans to the meat.

Step 13

Step 13
Pour a glass of water into the pan and stir.

Step 14

Step 14
Cover the pan with a lid and simmer the dish for 35-45 minutes, stirring occasionally. You can reduce the heat to low or medium-low.

Step 15

Step 15
Then add tomato juice or tomato paste diluted with water to the meat.

Step 16

Step 16
Add some salt.

Step 17

Step 17
Pepper it.

Step 18

Step 18
Stir and simmer covered for another 50 minutes.

Step 19

Step 19
Our dish is almost ready — squeeze a clove of garlic into it.

Step 20

Step 20
Add bay leaf.

Step 21

Step 21
Simmer for another 10 minutes. Then turn off the stove.

Step 22

Step 22
The dish is self-sufficient and does not require a side dish! As an addition, homemade pickles are perfect for it.

Step 23

Step 23
Bon appetit!
