How to make chicken stew in a saucepan? Prepare the necessary ingredients. You can use any part of the chicken for stewing. Iʼll cook chicken thighs. Peel the onions and carrots and rinse them in running water to remove any dirt.

Cut the chicken thighs into two parts. I don’t recommend cutting into small pieces, as when stewing the meat will begin to fall off the bones and will not look very appetizing.

For cooking, it is convenient to use a non-stick pan or a pan with a thick bottom. In such dishes, nothing burns or sticks to the bottom. Place the pan on the fire, pour a little vegetable oil into it and heat until hot. Then place the chicken in a hot pan and fry it over high heat for 5-7 minutes until all the pieces are slightly browned on all sides.

While the chicken is roasting, prepare the vegetables. Cut the onion into half rings or slightly smaller, grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

Add the chopped vegetables to the pan with the chicken. Fry everything together for 3-4 minutes. Then pour hot water into the pan. Why hot? There is no sudden temperature change when adding hot water and the chicken continues to cook without interruption.

Salt the chicken to taste, add chopped garlic and some spices. You can use ground black pepper, paprika, dried basil. Cover the pan with a lid, reduce the heat and simmer the chicken for 30 minutes. At this stage, you can add potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes or zucchini to the chicken. In this case, the chicken will be cooked immediately with the side dish. When stewing, you can give the dish a new taste by adding sour cream, cream or tomato paste.
