Slow Cooker Stewed Potatoes with Beef

A tasty and satisfying dish of potatoes and stew. You can serve it with black and white bread or flatbreads. Canned cucumbers also go well with this dish. But you can also make a salad from fresh vegetables, especially if the vegetable season is in full swing. If there is a need to remove the potatoes from the slow cooker, do this only after they have cooled completely — otherwise they will turn sour. When serving, do not forget to sprinkle the dish with fresh dill, parsley or onion.

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make stewed potatoes with stewed meat in a slow cooker? Peel, wash and cut the potatoes into medium-sized pieces. Then wash well again under running water to remove any released starch — otherwise the potatoes will turn out hard. The taste of the dish will depend on the type of potato.

Step 2

Step 2
Peel the onion and cut into half or quarter rings — depending on the size. You can use more than two onions (as indicated in the recipe), especially if they are not very large.

Step 3

Step 3
Remove the stew from the jar, place in a bowl and mash with a fork. You need to take proven stewed meat — good quality, and preferably home-made.

Step 4

Step 4
Place the potatoes in the multicooker bowl first — do not grease the bottom of the bowl with anything.

Step 5

Step 5
Add onion on top.

Step 6

Step 6
Next add the stew. I put in the entire contents of the jar. Please note that I do not add water — my stew is juicy on its own. If itʼs a little dry, pour in a little water. If there is too little fat, add fat, preferably pork fat.

Step 7

Step 7
Add salt and bay leaf. I used crushed in the amount of 1 heaped teaspoon. Mix everything well with a large wooden spoon or spatula so as not to damage the non-stick coating of the multicooker. Turn the multicooker on to the “stew” mode for 25 minutes. I have a multicooker with a power of 700 W, in which the default “quenching” mode is set to 1 hour — I reduced the time.

Step 8

Step 8
It took me 25 minutes for the potatoes to be completely cooked and, at the same time, not overcooked. The time can always be adjusted, depending on the speed of cooking the potatoes, which will be influenced by the type of potato and the power of the multicooker. The main thing is to taste the dish in time to see if it is ready. During the heat treatment, you can stir the potatoes once or twice, but no more, so that mashed potatoes do not come out.
