Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make shrimp tempura at home? Prepare all products. You can use any shrimp for this dish, but it is more convenient, of course, to use large ones, for example, king or tiger shrimp. Tempura flour is used. If such a product is difficult to purchase, you can prepare it yourself from a mixture of wheat, rice, corn flour, starch (1 part of each component) and sea salt to taste. Rinse and dry the shrimp thoroughly.

Step 2

Step 2
If the shrimp are unpeeled, then it is necessary to remove the head, tail and remove the shell. It is more convenient to do this if you keep the frozen shrimp a little in warm water.

Step 3

Step 3
Beat a chicken egg into a bowl, add water, salt, and ground black pepper to taste.

Step 4

Step 4
You can add a few drops of soy sauce for a special flavor. Whisk the ingredients until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Pour the tempura flour into the bowl with the liquid in small portions, while using a whisk with your other hand, stirring the mixture so that no lumps form. The mixture should have the consistency of liquid sour cream. You may need a little more or a little less flour than the specified amount.

Step 5

Step 5
Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan with a thick bottom and high walls and heat it well. Dip shrimp in batter. If the shrimp are large, you can put them on wooden skewers and dip them into the batter one at a time. I have small shrimp, so I dipped them into the batter in batches and dropped them into the hot oil with a fork.

Step 6

Step 6
Leave the shrimp in the oil in the pan for just a few minutes until the crust turns golden brown. The main thing is not to overcook them on the fire. Using a slotted spoon, remove the shrimp from the pan and place them first on a paper towel so that the excess oil is absorbed into the paper. Place the shrimp in a serving dish and serve with any sauce to your taste. Bon appetit!
