Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make oven-baked salmon with lemon? Prepare all the necessary products. It is best to take chilled fish; frozen fish contains much less nutrients. If you have frozen fish, then defrost it first. Fresh garlic can be replaced with garlic powder. I recommend using coarse sea salt.

Step 2

Step 2
Rinse the fish steak under running water and remove excess films. Sprinkle with lemon juice from half a fresh lemon. This will remove excess fishy smell from the fish. Wash the lemon well with hot water first — this will give off much more juice. We will need the second half of the lemon later.

Step 3

Step 3
Pour vegetable oil over the fish.

Step 4

Step 4
Add a little salt.

Step 5

Step 5
Add minced garlic or garlic powder. I grated it on a fine grater, but you can chop the garlic with a knife or pass it through a press. At the same stage, you can add your favorite spices and seasonings: thyme, allspice, and tarragon are perfect. In my opinion, noble fish, such as salmon, does not need additional seasonings; its taste should not be “clogged” with anything.

Step 6

Step 6
Stir and leave the fish to marinate. Marinating time can vary from 20 minutes to 24 hours.

Step 7

Step 7
While the fish is marinating, cut the remaining lemon into thin slices.

Step 8

Step 8
Prepare a heat-resistant dish in which to bake the fish. Add fish steak.

Step 9

Step 9
Place a few lemon slices on the fish. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Bake the fish for about 30 minutes. The times are approximate, be guided by the operating characteristics of your oven. Read about ovens in a separate article under the steps. If you like a healthier option, similar to stew, then it is better to cover the pan with foil. If you like dishes with a crispy crust, then you don’t have to cover the pan with anything.

Step 10

Step 10
Serve the salmon steak baked with lemon immediately. Although it is delicious both hot and cold. Bon appetit!
