How to make rice in tomato sauce? First, prepare the ingredients you will need to prepare rice in tomato sauce: rice, tomato paste, vegetable oil for frying, salt and spices. Of course, you can get by with just tomato paste, but spices greatly enhance simple dishes. By changing spices and seasonings, each time we will get a new taste. This time I decided to add garlic, ginger and chili pepper to the rice for added spice.

Take one glass of rice. Any type of rice is suitable, short-grain or long-grain does not matter, you can even take steamed rice. This will only change the cooking time and proportions of water. For 200 grams of long and steamed rice, you need to take 450 ml of water and cook for 18-20 minutes. For short rice you need water — 400 ml, cook the same amount. Brown and wild rice is cooked for 45-50 minutes, you need to take 500-575 ml of water. Rinse the rice well and dry.

Pour a little vegetable oil into a saucepan or small saucepan. Add finely chopped garlic. Sauté the garlic for a few seconds.

Peel the ginger and chili pepper. Finely chop everything and heat in oil until a bright aroma appears. There is no need to brown the vegetables too much.

Add tomato paste. Stirring, heat until the oil turns red, about 3-4 minutes.

Add rice, salt and spices to taste.

Pour in the required amount of boiled water and cook the rice over medium heat until the free liquid is absorbed from the surface of the rice. Then reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid and let the rice cook for another 3-4 minutes. Then turn off the stove and leave the rice covered for 10 minutes. Serve the rice in tomato sauce hot, sprinkled with finely chopped green onions.
