Hearty Chicken Puff Salad

The general among festive puff salads! The salad is widely known for good reason — it is very filling and tasty. I would classify this salad as a menʼs salad, because there is chicken, potatoes, onions, garlic... But women are not far behind men — everyone loves the General. When I prepare layered salads in salad bowls, I grate the ingredients on a fine grater, so the salad soaks in better and faster. When in forms — on a coarse grater, the salad looks more beautiful, but it takes more time to soak — such salads taste better after a day.

Ingredients (8 portions)

Basic:

Garlic 2 clove
Salt to taste
Potato 4 pc
Hard cheese 250 g
Beet 3 pc
Carrot 1 pc
Bulb onions (not large) 3 pc
Mayonnaise 300 g
Chicken eggs 3 pc
Smoked chicken (breasts, but you can also boil or grill them) 0.5 kg

How is General salad made? Prepare the required products. Boil and cool eggs, potatoes, beets and carrots in advance. Before cooking, do not forget to wash them thoroughly, preferably with a brush. Peel boiled vegetables.

Grate the beets on a coarse grater. If it is too juicy, almost “floating”, it is better to squeeze the juice out of it by lightly squeezing it over a bowl. Before the procedure, I recommend wearing rubber gloves to avoid staining the skin of your hands. Squeeze the garlic into the beets using a garlic press. Salt the beet mass and stir.

Cut the smoked chicken fillet into small cubes. In addition to smoked chicken, you can add boiled or fried chicken to this salad.

Grate the boiled chicken eggs on a coarse grater and add salt.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. You can use any cheese you want. Boiled semi-solid is best.

Grate the boiled carrots on a coarse grater and add salt.

Chop the white onion. To prevent your eyes from crying, dip your knife in cold water periodically.

Grate the boiled potatoes on a coarse grater. Salt well. Stir.

Start laying out the salad in layers on a wide dish suitable for this occasion. Our first layer will be the chicken layer. Lubricate it thoroughly with mayonnaise to make the chicken meat more juicy.

The second layer is potatoes. Coat it with mayonnaise.

The third layer is onion. Lubricate it with mayonnaise too.

Before serving, decorate the General salad at your discretion. I simply cut the cooked beets into stars (with cookie cutters) and placed them on top, adding some greens.
