Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make lightly salted mackerel at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Thaw the frozen carcass first. How to do this correctly, read the article on this topic. You will find the link at the end of this recipe.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the fish, gut it, remove the head. Cut into portions.

Step 3

Step 3
Place the fish in a container of a suitable size, preferably with as little free space as possible.

Step 4

Step 4
Add salt and sugar. I don’t dissolve them in advance; from experience I can say that salt and sugar dissolve perfectly on their own.

Step 5

Step 5
Fill the mackerel with water so that it completely covers our fish, I used about 500 ml. Take clean filtered water, otherwise it may give the dish an unpleasant aftertaste.

Step 6

Step 6
Leave the container in the refrigerator for a day. Then drain the water and pour vegetable oil over the fish pieces. Our delicious lightly salted mackerel in pieces is ready. You can store it like this in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. But usually it doesn’t stay long and is quickly eaten. Because it turns out very tasty.

Step 7

Step 7
Serve lightly salted mackerel on a plate and garnish with dill and lemon slices, if desired. It can be served as a complete snack on its own or as a side dish of potatoes. Bon appetit!
