Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make grilled king prawns at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Thaw the shrimp at room temperature or in the refrigerator without removing from the bag. If you plan to cook over an open fire, it is better to take completely raw shrimp of a natural gray color and, if possible, the same large size.

Step 2

Step 2
You can cook shrimp in a grill pan without peeling them; you just need to rinse them in water first. Dry on a paper towel.

Step 3

Step 3
Rinse the thawed shrimp under running water, remove the head, peel off the shell, leaving the tail. After this, cut them on the back and remove the dark intestinal vein (it will give off a bitter taste). Pat the shrimp dry.

Step 4

Step 4
How to make a marinade for grilled king prawns? Peel the garlic, chop through a press and place in a bowl. Add chopped rosemary and thyme and stir. I grind everything in a mortar, adding a little salt.

Step 5

Step 5
Place half of the grated aromatic gruel on the bottom of a wide container, add 6 tbsp. butter, stir everything well. Then place the shelled shrimp, preferably in a single layer. Add just a little salt and sprinkle a little dry fish spices on top. Carefully turn the shrimp over and repeat the process with the spices. Leave to marinate for 20 minutes.

Step 6

Step 6
In another container, mix the second part of the gruel with vegetable oil and place the peeled shrimp in it, also lightly salt them and sprinkle with dry spices on both sides. Leave to marinate for 15 minutes.

Step 7

Step 7
Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. First, lay out the peeled shrimp (they marinate faster), fry them for 1.5-2 minutes on each side. You can lay it out either separately or on skewers. Finished shrimp lose their transparency and acquire a golden-orange color, and become almost half their original size. Remove the cooked king prawns from the pan.

Step 8

Step 8
Then start frying the shrimp in the shell. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, until bright orange. If you cook longer, the meat will become rubbery and tough. When frying over an open fire, on a grill, we cook it the same way, just place it on the grill. Place the finished king prawns, peeled and in the shell, on a dish, garnishing with herbs if desired. Bon appetit!
