Cottage cheese 70 g
Eggs 1 pc
Onion 0.5 pc
Breadcrumbs 1.5 tbsp
Ground black pepper to taste

For the sauce:

Tomato paste 2 tbsp
Water 100 ml
Onion 0.5 pc
Sugar 0.5 tsp
Dry spices to taste

Minced meat for meatballs is traditionally taken from beef; a small addition of pork is allowed for softness. You can use lard. I have a mixed one, made from beef and lean pork. Any curd cheese will do, I used ricotta.

You can prepare the minced meat yourself or use ready-made ones. I took homemade. Place the minced meat in a bowl, salt and pepper it. Consider how salty you will add the cheese. Ricotta has a neutral taste, I salt it well. Beat the egg into the minced meat. Mix well.

Peel the onion and divide into 2 halves. Set aside one for the sauce, grate the other on a fine grater into minced meat. Place cheese on top and add breadcrumbs.

Knead the minced meat until completely homogeneous.

Prepare a baking dish, grease it with a small amount of vegetable oil. Use your hands to form meatballs the size of your palm.

Prepare the sauce. To do this, mix tomato paste with water in a bowl. Grate the reserved onion half into the sauce. Salt to taste, add your favorite spices. I took oregano. Stir.

Bake the meatballs in the oven, preheated to 190°C, for 35-45 minutes. The exact time will depend on the features of your oven and the size of the cutlets. I kept them in the oven for 40 minutes until browned. Take out the finished dish, cool slightly and serve with any side dish.
