Ingredients (4 portions)

Basic:

Salt 1 tsp
Ground black pepper 0.25 tsp
Milk 0.5 cup
Eggs 1 pc
Bulb onions 1 pc
Dill 20 g
White bread (2 slices) 50 g
Blue whiting 1 kg

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to fry blue whiting fish cakes? Prepare all the necessary products. My fish is frozen, but it’s better, of course, to choose fresh. Immediately pour milk over the bread to swell. Dill can be replaced with parsley or a mixture can be made from them. You can use any spices to your taste.

Step 2

Step 2
First of all, defrost the fish. Read about how to do this correctly in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe. Rinse the defrosted fish, remove the head, tail and fins. Filet the fish, removing everything and bones from it.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the onion and cut it into quarters. Lightly squeeze the milk out of the white bread. Pass the fish fillet through a meat grinder with onion and white bread.

Step 4

Step 4
In a bowl with the chopped fish, add an egg, salt and pepper to taste, and chopped fresh herbs. Mix everything until smooth. Some people add mayonnaise to the minced fish for juiciness, but the cutlets turn out very juicy even without mayonnaise.

Step 5

Step 5
Using wet hands, form the minced fish into cutlets. You can fry the cutlets directly, or you can roll them in flour or breadcrumbs before frying. I rolled my cutlets in breadcrumbs.

Step 6

Step 6
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. For information on how to choose the right frying pan and oil, read the separate articles using the links at the end of the recipe. Place the prepared cutlets in the pan. Fry the cutlets first on one side until golden brown, then turn them over and fry on the other side.

Step 7

Step 7
Serve the finished fish cutlets hot. Boiled rice, mashed potatoes or fresh vegetables are suitable as a side dish for these cutlets. Bon appetit!
