Roasted Cabbage Steaks

Unusual, bright, tasty — just what you need for variety! Cabbage steak in the oven is an excellent side dish or a meal on its own. It is better to cook it from young cabbage, then the steak will turn out tender and juicy. You can take any set of seasonings to suit your taste.

Young cabbage (the middle of a small head of cabbage) 400 g

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make white cabbage steak in the oven? Prepare your food. Young cabbage is better — it is softer and juicier; it may not work with an old fork. You can use any spices, I used basil, it will be delicious with Provençal herbs. Take refined, odorless oil. Turn on the oven to 200 degrees.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the cabbage, dry it, tear off the top leaves. Cut the head of cabbage in half down the center. Cut two layers on both sides of the middle so that they rest on the remaining stalk. Make it about 2cm wide.

Step 3

Step 3
Pour dry spices into a bowl and squeeze a clove of garlic into it. Pour in vegetable oil, stir.

Step 4

Step 4
Cut the bell pepper and remove the core and seeds. Cut the pulp into small cubes.

Step 5

Step 5
Place the cabbage steaks in a suitable baking dish so that they do not overlap each other. Brush the top of the cabbage with the resulting sauce, then sprinkle with chopped pepper. Read about choosing the appropriate form in the article at the link at the end of the recipe.

Step 6

Step 6
Bake the steaks in an oven preheated to 200°C for 20-25 minutes. The exact time will depend on the characteristics of your oven and the cabbage itself. Read more about ovens in the article at the link at the end of the recipe.

Step 7

Step 7
Serve cabbage steaks to the table; sour cream or mayonnaise goes well with them as a sauce. Bon appetit!
