Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake strudel with apples, cinnamon and nuts in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients for the dough. Take the highest grade flour. Turn on the oven to 180 degrees in advance. Remove the butter for the filling from the refrigerator in advance so that it becomes soft.

Step 2

Step 2
Sift the flour into a bowl. This will saturate it with oxygen, and the dough will turn out more tender and airy. Make a well in the flour and add warm water, egg and salt. Stir the dough with a spoon. You may need a little more or a little less flour. Read more about flour in the article below the steps.

Step 3

Step 3
Transfer the dough to the table. Add some of the vegetable oil and knead into a soft, elastic, non-sticky dough, adding the remaining vegetable oil if necessary.

Step 4

Step 4
Form the dough into a ball, wrap in film and leave in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Step 5

Step 5
Meanwhile, make the filling. For this dish, it is better to take sweet and sour apples, dense, not loose. Apples with loose pulp will quickly boil into porridge, but we need the apples to soften but retain their shape. You can replace hazelnuts with other nuts to taste.

Step 6

Step 6
Grind the hazelnuts in a blender into fine crumbs.

Step 7

Step 7
Wash the apples, peel them, remove the core and seeds and cut into small cubes. If the apples begin to darken quickly, sprinkle them with lemon juice.

Step 8

Step 8
In a bowl, combine apples, sugar, ground hazelnuts, lemon zest, cinnamon and breadcrumbs.

Step 9

Step 9
Dust the dough with flour and roll out with a rolling pin into a layer approximately 5 mm thick. Then slowly stretch the dough with your hands from the center to the edges. It should be pulled out as thin as possible without tearing. It is better to immediately roll it out on siliconized parchment on which you will bake. Because when transferring the formed roll onto a baking sheet, the dough may tear in several places. Transfer immediately onto parchment.

Step 10

Step 10
Grease the entire surface of the dough with soft butter. Spread the apple filling evenly on top.

Step 11

Step 11
Roll the dough into a tight roll, tucking the side edges, and carefully pinch the seams so that the filling does not leak out.

Step 12

Step 12
Place the dough on a baking sheet, seam side down. Brush with beaten yolk. Bake the strudel in an oven preheated to 180°C for 40-50 minutes. For more information on how to choose the right parchment for baking, as well as baking time and temperature, read the article. Links are at the end of the recipe.

Step 13

Step 13
Cool the finished apple strudel slightly, sprinkle with powdered sugar, cut into pieces and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Bon appetit!
