Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make flatbreads using water and flour in a frying pan? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Sift wheat flour into a deep bowl. This must be done even for preparing flatbreads, firstly, to avoid various types of impurities and debris getting into the dough with flour, and secondly, the flour must be saturated with oxygen to make the flatbreads softer.

Step 2

Step 2
Add salt to a bowl with flour and pour in vegetable oil and water. Stir first using a spoon directly in the bowl. You may need less or more flour, check the consistency. Read more about the properties of flour in the article below the steps.

Step 3

Step 3
Place the sticky mass on a floured work surface and continue kneading the dough with your hands. It should turn out smooth and elastic. Place it back in the bowl, cover with cling film and leave on the counter for 15 minutes. If desired, while the dough is resting, you can prepare the greens for the filling. I made simple flatbreads, without filling.

Step 4

Step 4
Divide the “rested” dough into several pieces depending on the desired number and size of the prepared cakes. Roll out each piece of dough on a floured table into a thin round layer.

Step 5

Step 5
To make the cakes more beautiful and even, they can be cut into plates.

Step 6

Step 6
The flatbreads can be fried in a dry frying pan or in vegetable oil, depending on your taste preferences. In the first case, they will turn out drier and crispier, but they can be greased with butter while hot for greater softness and a pleasant aroma, and in the second case, the flatbreads will be soft and rosy. I fried it in oil.

Step 7

Step 7
Pour vegetable oil into a preheated frying pan, heat it and place the flatbread. Fry over medium heat on each side until golden brown. If the dough on the scones begins to swell, you can make a few punctures with a fork. How to choose a frying pan and oil for frying, read the articles at the end of the recipe.

Step 8

Step 8
Remove the tortillas from the pan onto a paper towel so that the excess oil is absorbed into the paper. Transfer the flatbreads to a serving dish and serve with sour cream and fresh vegetables, herbs, or as a substitute for bread for the first course or main course. Bon appetit!
