Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make meatballs without rice and gravy? Prepare the necessary ingredients. If the meat is frozen, defrost it by moving it to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator in advance. Wash and dry the egg.

Step 2

Step 2
Rinse the pork, dry it with paper towels, remove the veins, and cut into arbitrary pieces. Peel and wash one medium-sized potato, cut it into 4 parts. Peel the garlic cloves and onions.

Step 3

Step 3
Pass the meat through a meat grinder, adding potatoes, onions and garlic.

Step 4

Step 4
Rinse the carrots well with a brush under running water. Peel it and grate it on a fine grater.

Step 5

Step 5
Add the grated carrots to the minced meat.

Step 6

Step 6
Wash your eggs thoroughly, as even a seemingly clean shell can harbor harmful bacteria. Use food grade detergents and a brush. Beat one egg into the minced meat.

Step 7

Step 7
Salt and pepper to taste.

Step 8

Step 8
Add breadcrumbs.

Step 9

Step 9
Add spices to taste — I used a pinch of nutmeg.

Step 10

Step 10
Mix well.

Step 11

Step 11
With wet hands, form the minced meat into round meatballs.

Step 12

Step 12
Dip each meatball in flour and place on a cutting board.

Step 13

Step 13
Pour vegetable oil with a high smoke point into the pan. Reheat well. You can tell when the oil is hot enough in a simple way. Dip a wooden spatula into it, if bubbles gather around it, then you can begin the frying process. Place the meatballs and fry them until light golden brown.

Step 14

Step 14
Using a spatula, carefully turn the meatballs over until they are browned on all sides.

Step 15

Step 15
Take a heatproof pan. Place the fried meatballs there.

Step 16

Step 16
Prepare the gravy. Peel and chop the garlic cloves with a knife.

Step 17

Step 17
Peel the onion and chop finely. To prevent onion juice from irritating the mucous membranes of your eyes so much, rinse them and your knife with cold water. If you grease the cutting board with a slice of lemon, it will not absorb the unpleasant onion smell.

Step 18

Step 18
Place the onion and garlic in a frying pan and fry in the oil that remains from frying the meatballs.

Step 19

Step 19
Remove the skins from the tomatoes in their own juice, add them to the fried onions and mash them with a fork, adding the juice from the tomatoes. Instead of tomatoes in their own juice, you can take homemade tomato juice or 2 tablespoons of tomato paste diluted in 500 ml of water.

Step 20

Step 20
Add your favorite spices, I used Provençal herbs. The dish will immediately acquire a completely different taste. If you use ready-made spices for meat dishes, be sure to read the ingredients before use. If there is already salt in the mixture, take this into account when adding salt to the sauce, otherwise you risk over-salting.

Step 21

Step 21
Add a little hot red pepper, it will give the sauce some piquancy.

Step 22

Step 22
Simmer the gravy for about 5-7 minutes, try to see if there is enough. If you think necessary, add a little salt and sugar.

Step 23

Step 23
Pour the tomato sauce over the meatballs and place them in the oven. Bake for about 30 minutes at 180 degrees. To ensure that the oven has time to heat up to the desired temperature, turn it on 10-20 minutes before cooking. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven.

Step 24

Step 24
Serve the meatballs hot. The side dish can be anything, for example, stewed rice, buckwheat, mashed potatoes or pasta. Or just make a vegetable salad. Bon appetit!
