Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
Letʼs prepare the ingredients. It is better to use white potatoes to prepare them, so that the tubers are small in size. These potatoes are more tasty and crumbly. If you have a different variety of potato at hand, there is nothing to worry about. Itʼs just better to boil it first. Wash the potatoes, peel and cut into thin slices, no more than one centimeter thick.

Step 2

Step 2
If the potatoes are still tough, then most likely they will be hard after baking. To do this, pour water into a saucepan and put it on the fire; when the water boils, lower the potato slices into the water for a couple of minutes. Remove the potatoes with a slotted spoon and let the water drain.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the onions and cut them into halves of rings. Grease the baking dish with vegetable oil. Place potato slices on it. Place some cooked onions between the layers of potatoes.

Step 4

Step 4
Beat a chicken egg into a bowl, beat it with a fork, pour in cream, and mix. Add a handful of finely grated hard cheese to the mixture and mix again.

Step 5

Step 5
Fill the potatoes with the mixture so that the liquid is slightly above the level of the potatoes, but not by much.

Step 6

Step 6
Sprinkle salt and ground pepper on top. Chopped dill or parsley, optional. You can add any spices to taste and desire, for example, special ones for potatoes or dry herbs. Cover the form with foil. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Place the pan with potatoes in the oven for 25 minutes. Check the readiness of the potatoes with a fork; if it fits tightly into the potatoes, it means you need to bake more.

Step 7

Step 7
Cooking time depends on the type of potato, whether it was pre-boiled or not, the number of layers of potatoes in the mold and the operation of the oven. Remove the foil from the pan. Let the potatoes brown. To give the dish an appetizing golden brown crust, you can sprinkle grated hard cheese on top. Remove the dish from the oven. Serve potatoes to the table with fresh vegetables, meat or as a separate dish. Bon appetit!
