How to bake potatoes in sour cream in the oven? Prepare your food. Choose crumbly varieties of potatoes. Pre-wash and clean it. Take natural, fresh, good quality and high fat sour cream. Any cheese is suitable for this dish — hard, semi-hard, soft, such as mozzarella. The main thing is that it is tasty, of high quality, without milk fat substitutes and melts well.

Combine sour cream with water. Stir until smooth, add a little salt and spices to taste. I used a small amount of ground black pepper, smoked paprika, 100% asafoetida, and also a little dried dill. You can add any seasonings you like or have on hand.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Add half the grated cheese to the sour cream, stir. Set the sour cream sauce aside for a while.

Cut the potatoes into thin slices. You can use a knife, or you can use a special grater. Place the chopped potatoes in a large bowl.

Add sour cream sauce to a bowl with potatoes. Mix the potatoes with the sauce so that each slice is coated with the sour cream mixture. It was very convenient for me to carry out this process by hand. Place the prepared potatoes in an ovenproof dish. I didn’t grease the pan with anything beforehand, counting on the fat content of the sour cream sauce.

Cover the pan with a sheet of foil (or a lid if the pan has a lid) and bake in the oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 45-50 minutes. Once the time is up, carefully open the pan and pierce the potatoes with the tip of a sharp knife. If the slices are soft, then the potatoes are ready!

Sprinkle the potatoes with the remaining cheese and place in the oven for another 5-10 minutes under the grill without a lid or foil, so that the cheese on top melts and the potatoes are deliciously browned.
