Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make roast beef in a cauldron on the stove? Very simple. To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can replace tomato paste with ketchup or fresh tomatoes, cut into pieces or crushed in a blender. You can replace the meat broth with chicken or vegetable broth or plain water.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the beef pulp, dry it and cut into portions. You can take meat from any part of the carcass. I have a spatula.

Step 3

Step 3
Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut large tubers into medium cubes. Leave the small potatoes whole.

Step 4

Step 4
Cut the carrots into medium pieces.

Step 5

Step 5
Cut the onion into half rings. If the onions are small, like mine, you can add them whole. They will still be very boiled.

Step 6

Step 6
Heat vegetable oil in a cauldron, add meat and fry over high heat until golden brown.

Step 7

Step 7
Finally, add salt, pepper and meat spices. You can replace ready-made spices with paprika, suneli hops, and nutmeg. If you use ready-made spice mixtures, be sure to read the ingredients on the package. Often such mixtures already contain salt, take this into account, otherwise you risk oversalting the dish.

Step 8

Step 8
Add tomato paste, mix with meat and fry, stirring, for a couple of minutes.

Step 9

Step 9
Add onions and carrots to the cauldron. Fry everything together, stirring, for 2-3 minutes.

Step 10

Step 10
Pour hot broth or water into the cauldron until it completely covers the meat.

Step 11

Step 11
Cover the cauldron with a lid and simmer over low heat for 1 hour.

Step 12

Step 12
When the meat becomes soft, add chopped potatoes to the cauldron and mix everything again.

Step 13

Step 13
Simmer the roast for about 30 minutes until all ingredients are cooked through. The exact time will depend on the type of potato. Read more about potato varieties at the end of the recipe. This roast can be cooked not only on the stove, but also over a fire. Bon appetit!
