Hearty Stewed Cabbage with Meat and Potatoes

A simple dish made from affordable ingredients for the whole family. I really liked the stewed cabbage with minced meat and potatoes for its quick preparation and excellent taste. The dish is spicy, satisfying, but at the same time quite light. The taste personally reminds me of Polish bigus. Try it!

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make stewed cabbage with minced meat and potatoes? Wash the boneless beef under running water. For ease of use with a meat grinder, cut the meat into pieces and roll through the middle grid. I always turn the minced meat twice so that the finished meat is as soft as possible. This is especially true for beef.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the carrots and grate on a coarse grater. Peel the onion and chop into small cubes. Heat a non-stick frying pan over high heat. Then reduce the heat to medium and heat the vegetable oil well. Then add the carrots and onions to fry for three minutes.

Step 3

Step 3
Add the minced meat, stir and fry over medium heat for about seven minutes. By the way, minced pork and even chicken are suitable here. Or you can do 50/50: beef/pork. It will be very tasty.

Step 4

Step 4
While the minced meat is fried, wash the potatoes with a brush. This will ensure that there are no particles of earth left on the peel. Peel the skins and cut the tubers into fairly large strips if you want the potatoes to visually stand out in the finished dish.

Step 5

Step 5
With the lid closed, simmer the dish over medium heat for five minutes. You need to mix carefully so as not to damage the integrity of the potato straws.

Step 6

Step 6
Wash the cabbage under running water and chop into thin long strips. Due to the thin cutting, the cabbage is added at the very end.

Step 7

Step 7
Add tomato paste and finely grated garlic. Salt and pepper the dish. Pour in filtered water. Stir gently and, cover, simmer over low heat until tender, about twenty minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on the individual characteristics of your pan and the stove itself.
