Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make solyanka with cabbage, potatoes and meat? Prepare your food. Take pork pulp, preferably with small layers of fat, the hodgepodge will be juicier. Wash and dry the vegetables first.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash and dry the pork pulp well, and then cut into small pieces. Heat a frying pan over high heat, pour two tablespoons of vegetable oil into it and fry the meat for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown. The meat will release its fat, which will be useful later.

Step 3

Step 3
Place the meat in a thick-bottomed saucepan and add a glass of water. Cook the meat for 10 minutes over low heat.

Step 4

Step 4
Peel the potatoes and cut into large cubes. Add chopped potatoes to the meat.

Step 5

Step 5
Peel the carrots and cut into small pieces — circles or strips. At the same time as the potatoes, add the carrots to the hodgepodge. Simmer everything together for another 10 minutes.

Step 6

Step 6
While the vegetables and meat are stewing, shred the cabbage thinly. To do this, you can use a special cabbage grater or a knife with a double blade. Cabbage cut in this way turns out very thin and cooks quickly. Place the chopped cabbage in the pan with the vegetables to simmer.

Step 7

Step 7
In the meantime, start frying. Peel one large onion and finely chop. Fry the onion in the fat released when frying the meat. When the onion turns golden, add tomato paste to it. Fry everything together for a couple more minutes so that the tomato paste releases its aroma. Add the tomato sauce to the hodgepodge. Mix well and simmer for another 10-15 minutes.

Step 8

Step 8
If desired, you can add any greens to the hodgepodge with cabbage, potatoes and meat. I added finely chopped parsley. Add the greens to the pan last, stir and immediately turn off the heat.

Step 9

Step 9
Let the hodgepodge brew for a bit and cool, after 10-15 minutes you can serve it. Bon appetit!
