Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to stew chicken with sauerkraut in a frying pan? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Any part of chicken is suitable for cooking; I took a large chicken leg.

Step 2

Step 2
To prepare this dish, only real sauerkraut is suitable. No quick, vinegary cabbage will do. If it is sour, then you can fill it with cold water and let it stand for 5-10 minutes. Then drain in a colander or sieve and rinse under cold water.

Step 3

Step 3
Wash the chicken leg, dry it and remove the bones. Cut the chicken fillet into pieces and place in a bowl. Add tomato paste and chopped garlic to it. Mix everything and leave to marinate for 5-6 hours.

Step 4

Step 4
Peel the onions, cut them and place them in a frying pan with vegetable oil. Fry the onion for 5 minutes, stirring.

Step 5

Step 5
Place sauerkraut in the pan with the onions and stir. Pepper everything, sprinkle with sugar and pour in water. Close the lid and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Be careful not to burn the cabbage. Add a little water if necessary.

Step 6

Step 6
Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and fry over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring.

Step 7

Step 7
Add bay leaf, chopped garlic and stir.

Step 8

Step 8
Place the fried chicken pieces on the cabbage. Close the lid again and simmer for another 15-20 minutes until tender, remove from heat and serve.

Step 9

Step 9
You can serve boiled potatoes, herbs and fresh vegetables with chicken and sauerkraut. You can serve it on a plate or, like I did, in portioned pans. Bon appetit.
