Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make flounder fillet in the oven? First, prepare the ingredients required from the list. You can take fresh or frozen fish. Frozen fish must first be defrosted by transferring it from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Read about all the intricacies of proper defrosting in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe. Instead of fillet, you can use whole fish or fillet briquettes pressed from the fillet.

Step 2

Step 2
Squeeze the juice from half a lemon.

Step 3

Step 3
Wash the fish fillet, dry it, pour in lemon juice and sprinkle with salt and pepper. If you wish, you can sprinkle with fish spices, but keep in mind that they may already contain salt and pepper. Leave the fish to marinate for 20 minutes. Turn the oven on 180 degrees.

Step 4

Step 4
Cut half an orange into semicircles. You can replace the orange with lemon, but we already have lemon juice, so we dilute this sourness with the sweetness of the orange.

Step 5

Step 5
Peel the garlic and cut into petals.

Step 6

Step 6
Wash the parsley, dry and finely chop. If desired, you can replace or supplement with other herbs, for example, tarragon (tarragon), dill, cilantro, green onions, or use a mixture of different herbs.

Step 7

Step 7
Place fish fillets in a parchment-lined baking dish. Sprinkle chopped herbs on top. For information on different baking dishes, see the article at the end of this recipe under the steps.

Step 8

Step 8
Place garlic petals and orange slices on the fish. Spread the butter cut into pieces. Place the pan in an oven preheated to 180°C for 20-25 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven, the thickness of the fillet and your preference. Read about the operation of different ovens in the article at the end of the recipe.

Step 9

Step 9
While the fish is baking, make the side dish. Without defrosting, place the green beans in boiling salted water and boil for about 8 minutes until tender. Then place the beans in a sieve and immediately cover with ice water to preserve their bright green color. Dry the beans.

Step 10

Step 10
Remove the finished fish from the oven, transfer to a plate and serve with a side dish of green beans. Or any other side dish of your choice. In addition to flounder, you can cook any red or white fish using this recipe. Bon appetit!
