Easy Slow Cooker Pilaf

An impeccable, aromatic, rich dish. No hassle! Cooking crumbly pilaf in a slow cooker is much easier and faster than on the stove — you don’t need to watch it, it won’t burn or overcook. The rice does not stick together, and any meat can be used.

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make crumbly pilaf in a slow cooker? Prepare your food. Any meat is suitable — beef, chicken, lamb, I have pork. It’s better to take long-grain rice — it will remain intact, and the pilaf will turn out crumbly. But just don’t use steamed rice — this kind of rice will remain hard. Choose spices and seasonings to suit your taste, but preferably they contain cumin. You will learn all the subtleties of choosing rice by reading an article on this topic. Link at the end of the recipe.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the meat and dry it well. Cut it into small pieces.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the onion and cut into thin feathers.

Step 4

Step 4
Peeled carrots — into strips.

Step 5

Step 5
Set your multicooker to a mode suitable for frying. It may be called differently on different models. Some people call it “Frying”, but my multicooker fries in the “Baking” mode. Set the time to 40 minutes. Preheat the appliance, pour vegetable oil for frying into the bowl. Lay out the chopped meat. Fry it, stirring, with the lid open until the color changes.

Step 6

Step 6
When the meat turns grey, add the onion. Stir. Fry the meat and onions for about 5 minutes. Next, place the carrots in the bowl. Fry everything together for another 5 minutes. Then salt and pepper the meat. Cover the multicooker with the lid (without clicking) and cook the meat until the end of the program.

Step 7

Step 7
Rinse the rice well in several waters until transparent. Sprinkle it on top of the meat and smooth it out. Do not mix rice with meat — pilaf is prepared this way, in layers. Salt the rice on top and add seasonings. I have a set of spices for pilaf, I also added a little turmeric for color and barberry.

Step 8

Step 8
Peel the garlic head, wash it and stick it into the rice on top. Pour water into the bowl so that it is 1.5 cm higher than the rice. It is better to use hot water so that you do not waste extra time heating it when cooking in a multicooker.

Step 9

Step 9
Close the lid and set the program suitable for pilaf. I call it “Pilaf”; there are multicookers with the “Grains” or “Rice” programs. If you need to specify the time, then set it to 45 minutes. Prepare pilaf before the end of the program. All the water should be absorbed into the rice. The times and modes may differ for you; be guided by the operating features of your equipment. Read more about the operation of different multicookers in the article at the end of this recipe.

Step 10

Step 10
Remove the garlic and just now mix the rice with the meat. Cover the slow cooker again and let the pilaf stand for 10 minutes. Then serve the crumbly pilaf with pork to the table.
