Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to fry a tuna fillet steak on a grill pan? Prepare all the necessary products that are indicated in the recipe. Tuna steaks can be used frozen, but the dish is much tastier from fresh fish or store-bought chilled fish.

Step 2

Step 2
From the spices it will be enough to take only pepper, lemon and salt. Use peppercorns whenever possible. Mash it with a pestle and mortar. This pepper is more aromatic and brighter in taste.

Step 3

Step 3
So, rinse the tuna steaks in cold water and dry with paper napkins or a kitchen towel to remove excess moisture. Sprinkle each piece with pepper and salt to taste on both sides. Wash the lemon, dry and cut into thin slices. Place the citrus slices on the steaks and leave to marinate for 15-20 minutes. You can omit the slices and drizzle the tuna with lemon juice.

Step 4

Step 4
Drizzle the fish with a small amount of vegetable or olive oil.

Step 5

Step 5
Using light massaging movements, spread the oil on all sides of the pieces.

Step 6

Step 6
Heat the grill pan well. If you have a non-stick frying pan, you do not need to use oil for frying. I grease my frying pan with a little refined vegetable oil because without it, food will stick to the surface of the pan. Place the fish to fry. Press lightly onto the surface of the steaks and hold for a few seconds to a minute. Be guided by the color of the meat; it should lighten underneath.

Step 7

Step 7
Turn the tuna pieces over to the other side and fry the same way, pressing on top with a spatula or spoon. The edges of the steak should be light in colour, but the inside should remain red.

Step 8

Step 8
Place the tuna fillet on a flat surface, sprinkle with lemon juice and let rest for a couple of minutes.

Step 9

Step 9
The inside of the steaks is pink, as it should be. The meat is tender and very juicy, literally melts in your mouth.
