Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make stewed pike in a frying pan? Prepare all the necessary products. If you have frozen fish, defrost it first. Read about all the intricacies of proper defrosting in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe. Gut the carcass and remove scales.

Step 2

Step 2
Cut the pike into portions. The head and tail can later be used to prepare aromatic fish soup. In this case, be sure to remove the gills, otherwise the broth will taste bitter. Peel the onions and carrots and rinse.

Step 3

Step 3
Lightly salt each piece of fish and roll in flour on all sides.

Step 4

Step 4
Heat odorless vegetable oil in a frying pan. Place the fish in a frying pan and fry on all sides over moderate heat until golden brown. Read about how to choose the ideal frying pan, as well as how to choose the right vegetable oil in separate articles, links at the end of the recipe.

Step 5

Step 5
Chop the onion into thin rings or half rings. Cut the carrots into strips or grate them on a coarse grater.

Step 6

Step 6
When the fish is ready, remove it to a separate plate. If necessary, add vegetable oil to the pan and fry the vegetables.

Step 7

Step 7
Stirring, cook until the onion is translucent. Add tomato paste. Instead of tomato paste, it is permissible to use fresh tomatoes, tomato juice or ketchup.

Step 8

Step 8
Add some water to the fried vegetables. The amount of water depends on how much flavorful sauce you want to get in the end. I poured half a glass of water.

Step 9

Step 9
Place the pike in the frying pan. Simmer covered for about 10 more minutes.

Step 10

Step 10
After five minutes, turn each piece over so that the fish absorbs all the flavors of the tomato sauce. Add salt as needed.

Step 11

Step 11
Sprinkle the finished pike with vegetables with finely chopped fresh herbs. Parsley or dill work well.

Step 12

Step 12
If desired, sprinkle with ground black pepper when serving. Very tasty both hot and cold.
