Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake lean bread in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Before buying yeast, you need to read the instructions. Since there is yeast that needs to be mixed with flour immediately. We need yeast so that it can be diluted with liquid — water or milk.

Step 2

Step 2
First, prepare the dough. Sift the flour. This way it will be saturated with oxygen, and thanks to this the finished bread will be more tender and airy. Dissolve sugar in 60 ml of warm water (36-38°C). The water should be warm, but not scalding. Water that is too hot will kill the yeast. Add yeast to water and stir.

Step 3

Step 3
Pour 2-3 tbsp into water. l. flour and stir so that there are no lumps.

Step 4

Step 4
Leave the dough in a warm place for 20-30 minutes.

Step 5

Step 5
After this time, the dough should rise and become covered with bubbles. If bubbles and foam do not appear, then the yeast is not working. The dough will not rise on them, they will have to be replaced. Read about all the intricacies of working with yeast in a separate article (link at the end of the recipe).

Step 6

Step 6
Pour the remaining warm water into the dough, add salt and flour. Knead into a firm, elastic dough. Depending on the quality of flour, you may need a little more or a little less. You can read more about flour and its properties in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.

Step 7

Step 7
Knead the dough by hand or in a food processor until it no longer sticks to your hands.

Step 8

Step 8
Form the dough into a ball and place it in a deep bowl.

Step 9

Step 9
Cover the bowl with the dough with a towel and leave in a warm place for 1 hour.

Step 10

Step 10
After an hour, the dough should increase in volume by 2-3-4 times.

Step 11

Step 11
Knead the dough, thereby releasing excess air from it, and form a loaf. Coat the loaf with vegetable oil on all sides and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. You can choose the right parchment paper by reading a separate article about the features of parchment, the link is at the end of the recipe. Turn on the oven to 220 degrees.

Step 12

Step 12
Make slits in the bread and leave to rise for another 15 minutes. Bake the bread in an oven preheated to 220°C for about 35 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven. You can learn about the operating features of ovens by reading a separate article, link at the end of the recipe. A golden crust should appear on the surface.

Step 13

Step 13
Remove the finished bread from the oven and cover with a damp towel. Let the bread sit for 15 minutes. Bon appetit!
