Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake cakes from rye flour in water? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. I use dry yeast. The initial recipe uses raw ones. Here the choice is yours. Read all the subtleties of choosing and working with yeast in a separate article under the steps. Read about the properties of wheat and rye flour in separate articles at the end of this recipe.

Step 2

Step 2
First you need to prepare the dough. Heat the water for the dough slightly until it reaches a temperature that is pleasant to the touch. Add wheat flour, yeast and a teaspoon of sugar to the water. Mix well, cover with a towel and leave to rise in a warm place, I put it in the switched off oven. The yeast should be activated and the dough will rise and bubble. It took me about an hour. If you are cooking with raw yeast, wait three hours.

Step 3

Step 3
Next, take water for the dough, 65 ml, dissolve sugar and salt in it. Mix flour with baking powder and sift. Melt the butter. Lightly beat the egg with a fork. Knead the dough, gradually adding aqueous solution, egg and oil to the dough. I first mixed with a mixer, then with my hand. The dough turns out quite tight and not sticky at all. Let him sit for 15 minutes. You may need a little less or more flour.

Step 4

Step 4
Divide the dough into 8 parts and form a bun from each part.

Step 5

Step 5
Flatten each bun into a flat cake. This is easy to do by hand, but you can use a rolling pin. Make notches with a knife.

Step 6

Step 6
Place the rye yeast flatbread on parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg.

Step 7

Step 7
Bake the cakes in the oven at 190 degrees for about 25 minutes. The cakes should be slightly browned. The times are approximate, be guided by the operating characteristics of your oven. Read about ovens in the link at the end of the recipe. Ready-made simple rye cakes in the oven can be served with tea or milk. Bon appetit!
