Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make puff pastry pie with apples? Prepare your ingredients. You can prepare puff pastry in advance; there are many excellent recipes on our website. Or take a ready-made store-bought one. I use it in plates — this way it defrosts faster and rolls out easier. Just be sure to separate the plates before defrosting to prevent them from sticking together.

Step 2

Step 2
Roll both sheets of puff pastry not very thin into two identical rectangles. If necessary, sprinkle flour on your work surface to prevent the dough from sticking.

Step 3

Step 3
Prepare the filling. How to make the filling? Cut the apples into halves, remove seeds and cut into thin slices. I didnʼt skin them, but you can trim them if you wish. Sprinkle cognac over apples and stir. Also use cognac to taste.

Step 4

Step 4
Place one layer of dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place apples on top, leaving 1-2 cm from the edge.

Step 5

Step 5
Sprinkle apples with sugar. You can use cane sugar, it will give the filling an interesting caramel taste. You can also add cinnamon or vanilla.

Step 6

Step 6
Brush the free edges of the dough with beaten egg.

Step 7

Step 7
Place a second sheet of dough on top and pinch the edges. Make a herringbone-shaped cut in the middle of the cake to allow steam to escape.

Step 8

Step 8
Brush the top of the pie with the remaining egg and sprinkle with sugar. Bake the pie in an oven preheated to 220°C for about 25 minutes, until golden brown. Keep the finished pie for another 10 minutes in the cooling oven with the door ajar. Serve the pie in any form, it is delicious both warm and completely cooled. Bon appetit!
